About the Ranch
Our goal is to simply produce the biggest deer in Texas while providing a hunting experience for our clients that is second to none. That goal is overwhelmingly obvious from the moment you enter the gate.
Mike DeRonde, whose skill sets are second to none, has agreed to stay with us as Ranch Foreman and Head Guide. Mike's bio starts at a young age on a little known ranch named the YO. There he was exposed to some of the greatest exotic animals in the country, and make no mistake, he retains all of the knowledge gained there. A short while later Mike started his own fence company and has built countless miles of fence, short, tall and in between, across the state. Mike has probably built more whitetail deer handling facilities than anyone in the state, and we are proud he and his crew built ours. In the past years Mike has been at The Non-Typical, he was able to augment his already lengthy resume to include working hundreds of whitetails through a facility he built. This has given him the rare ability to see firsthand what works and what does not when handling whitetail deer. As our Head Guide, Mike is able to ensure any hunter a truly "Non-Typical Hunting Experience."
Michelle DeRonde is also staying with us, working with the deer and using all of her training as a veterinary technician and plain love for animals to ensure only the highest level of care to our deer. Michelle is also able to handle anything else we may throw at her, from hiring interns to cooking delicious meals for our hunters; she handles everything with poise and grace. Her attention to detail is second to none in all that she does and we are happy to have her on our team.
Doyle Trees, Mike's right hand man, also grew up in some of the best exotic country around. Doyle and Mike have been good friends for many years and have covered the same miles of fencing, game trails and plastic alleys. Doyle is always quick to smile, ready to help with anything and always ready to do whatever needs to be done to keep the ranch running smoothly.
Justin Parker has stayed on and agreed to take on the role of Ranch Manager/Wildlife Biologist for us. Justin has been the Pen Manager at The Non-Typical for the past three and a half years, and we are expecting only good things from him in his expanded role. He has an undergraduate degree from Tarleton State University in Animal Science, Wildlife Emphasis and an M.S. in Agriculture (Range Biology) from Tarleton as well. He has ten years in this industry and has managed ranches from Hico to Uvalde. His desire to produce the healthiest, biggest deer possible is the foundation we want to continue to build on.
